Know What You're Buying

Why Real Saffron Matters

Saffron is the world's most precious spice — and one of its most frequently faked. Dyed corn silk, safflower petals, and diluted powders are sold as saffron every day.

Real saffron announces itself: threads are deep red with a trumpet-shaped tip, the aroma is honeyed and hay-like, and a few threads steeped in warm water release a slow, golden color — never an instant red.

We sell only whole, all-red threads so you can see exactly what you're buying. No powders, no fillers, no shortcuts.

How to Spot Real Saffron

The Golden Ritual

Bloom It Like a Persian Grandmother

Saffron reveals its color, aroma, and flavor when steeped in warm water first. It takes two minutes of effort and rewards you tenfold.

  1. Grind

Crush a pinch of threads (10–15) with a mortar and pestle, or between your fingers with a tiny pinch of sugar.

  2. Steep

Add 2–3 tablespoons of warm — not boiling — water. Let it bloom for 10–15 minutes until deep golden.

  3. Pour

Add the liquid, threads and all, near the end of cooking. Watch rice, tea, or dessert turn radiant gold.

Our Story

From Our Family Table to Yours

Zarin Saffron began with Amirhossein's memories of saffron tea poured for guests, golden rice at family gatherings, and the quiet pride Iranians take in the world's finest saffron. When he couldn't find that same quality in American stores, he decided to bring it here himself.
